Learn how to create a joy mindfulness practice

WHEN STILLNESS IS SUFFOCATING

A 5-day online learning community for those sick of trying to be calm all the damn time and crave a path towards clarity, expression, and nervous system regulation that actually feels good.

Learn our Expansive Mindfulness Framework and discover the joy that exists in your mindfulness.

The reality is meditation doesn't work for everyone.

Well, at least meditation in how it’s prescribed by Western society.

You begin a 20-minute recording of a person guiding your breath and visualization that promises regulation. You hope it will calm the cycle of to do’s in your brain, ease the flare of annoyance you feel, or slow the vibrations you feel pulsing through your body.

And while you can understand in theory how this should work, the lived reality is much different.

😵‍💫A work email notification dings…now the to-do list is back.

😠Your partner accidentally interrupts you…now the annoyance is back.

💓Your knee won’t stop bouncing…the vibrations never actually left.

Please hear us when we say: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU

This is nothing against meditation as a practice, because many find it fulfilling, orienting, and foundational to their daily lives.

But the truth is, meditation isn’t for everyone. And by prescribing it to everyone, we’re erasing our core needs for expression, movement, and stimulation.

Regulation ≠ Calm

Somewhere along the way, calm became the goal of mindfulness practices. But your nervous system does not just need calm. You deserve a mindfulness practice that:

  • Supports not just mental regulation but full body alignment of the mind, heart, body, and spirit.

  • Isn’t one-size-fits-all but rather is shaped and tailored to who you are at the core of your being.

  • Adapts to the full expansiveness of your life, you don’t adapt to the meditation, the practices meet you where you are.

  • Gives you paths to express your rage, anxiety, sadness, and grief in libratory and aligned ways, rather than suppressing it.

What is The Playful Revolution?

The Playful Revolution is on a mission to help adults rediscover play as a path to liberation, greater belonging, and happiness.

Reclaiming your play is a revolutionary act. One that centers your joy and values your experience—rather than what you produce, how much money you make, or how many likes your latest Instagram post receives.

At The Playful Revolution, we teach you the tangible steps to reintegrate joy into your everyday life. By understanding the role play has on your mind and body, you can form new patterns and transform your life. Play empowers our work to shift from coping and surviving to liberation and systemic change that’s based on your joy.

The Playful Revolution is a creation of TJ Matton and Bailey Jacobs. Through embodied play education, our podcast The Play Rebels, and a playful community, we’re on a mission to reignite play in the world.

TJ Matton, Trauma Therapist, Play Educator, Joy Liberator

Before play? I was burnt out, drowning in the “mindfulness” culture. Stillness, breathwork, sure, it had its place—but no one was talking about what I was craving: letting go. Where was the silliness? Where was the space to just laugh, be ridiculous, and free?

I didn’t need more coping skills—I needed living skills. I wanted to stretch my limits—not for suffering, but for joy, for laughter, for all the wild, stupid, beautiful things that make life worth living. Everywhere I turned, it was all about performance, control, and perfection. But I wanted community, I wanted liberation. I wanted a revolution of joy.

As a teacher, I bring 20 years of experience helping people reconnect to their core humanness, navigate complex trauma, and reorient to their joy. My career as a clinical trauma therapist touches every aspect of my work as a speaker and educator.  Incorporating mindful play into healing and mental health has been instrumental in shaping The Playful Revolution’s social justice, relationship-first,

choice-driven framework.

Reclaiming play flipped my world upside down—and for the better. Now, it’s my mission to help you do the same. This isn’t just about mindfulness—it’s about playfulness and it’s going to change everything. Get ready for a transformation you never saw coming.
